To start with we were shown various different materials that, when stuck onto the board, would create interesting textures e.g string, lace, grass, feathers and tissue paper. We then printed our boards onto different surfaces (silk, tissue paper, black and white card), applying different coloured paint to each one to get a variety of prints.
I found collograph printing wasn't for me. I think the technique is quite interesting in that you can use pretty much anything to create prints out of. However the outcome is never as impressive as i expect it to be, which is quite tiring considering the effort that you put into making the textures on the board. I prefer art that is rich in detail, and i found creating impressive detail was hard with this 'messy' technique.
